Elwood Tri
2nd Race for my beautiful wife. She what not happy that there was rain and more rain. On the day, there was more wind than rain but they still cancelled the swim and went for the run ride run profile.
It was a great day for cheering Amanda on since the transition area was compact and we could run from one area to another.
The gun went off and the girls were off and a cracking pace. We rang our cow bell and then ran to the swim entry into transition to see Amanda racing past some of the girls! Then Hugo and I ran to the Bike exit with lots of our own racing on the way.. Hugo won that one! :-)
Amanda looked good on the bike but the wind was strong. We went in hunt for a babycino and a coffee to wait at the bike entry with cow bell in hand. Then my little Hero needed to go to the toilet... let's go find a tree and then quickly back again... oops I think we missed Mum! Nevermind.
We run off to Transition Run Exit but we miss her again... Mum is sooo fast! Go Mum mum Go!
So off to the finishing chute! and we cheer her on with high fives and big hugs! Well done Amanda! Great work.

St.Kilda Triathlon
Amanda's first race of the season. Very excited and coming off the back of a marathon, she was confident to bag the run stage.
The week leading up to the race was a wet one. The big issue with that is all the drains drain into the bay. EPA reports their recommendation of swimming or not. They recommended not.
As disappointing as it was, I was happy that Amanda didn't swim and carry this risk of catching something from swallowing the water.
The swim became a 500m run, which was perfect for Amanda.
BANG.... they were off... Hugo and I cheers Mum on and then ran from starting line to the transition area to see her come in. Amanda was rocking it... coming 3rd into transition and 1st exiting... The bike is a leg that needs some training and Amanda had been focused on running so a few of the people past her on the bike. As she came into transition from the bike and moving onto the run, she flew by and kicked off the run in great form.
The run was over before it started, she wizzed past many competitors who passed her on the bike stage. She finished off the race is great form and a good position. Well done!!! Hugo decided he was first in his race so here he is on the podium. Amanda will be next!

Noosa Triathlon Race!
Second year in a row, we are back for the Noosa Tri! The biggest triathlon in Australia and second biggest in the world! Which one is number one? must find out.
I must stay, its the very well organised event. the best I have been to. So we land and I was hoping to bump into Macca..."multiple world champion" I had just finished reading his book and had it with me for him to sign. I never thought we would bump into him straight away! We had just got off the plane, dropped our bags off at the hotel and bang... Macca walking down the main street with his family... amazing!
Had a great time with lots of ice cream and beach time with the family. It had rained for the few days before the race which raised the humidity. Race day was perfect weather and the mood was electric.
The Pros set off early and then my group was 3 hrs later. This allowed us time to check out the Pros racing... Wow they are fast! they gave me inspiration to push harder.
Jumping in the water is always an exciting time... race about to start and the body kicks into gear. Bang... go go go... arms, legs, white water every where! I sprinted off the mark and got onto a good set of legs. I got about 500m and I realised that my sprint was too much. The legs started to get away from me :-( I calmed down and focused on stroke... 1,2,3....1,2,3. I came out of the water 1 min fast than last year and energy levels seem to be in a really good way. Ready to kick it on the new bike.
Run into transition to run straight past where my bike was. Double backed and found it quickly. Glasses, helmet, race belt on. First time my shoes are on the bike... wow transition is fast not putting shoes on. I set the shoes up with elastic bands so they are level with the ground. This worked really well when I mounted the bike. My wife and son were they cheering me on... They have me the boost I needed after the swim sprint didn't go as planned (Thanks!). I got up to speed and shoes strapped in... I was off! Gel in and felt that 40km/h was a bit fast first off. Checked HR and I was in a good range so kept going. I had 2 bottles for the 1hr or so ride. First round about, one bottle flew out... damn... must watch hydration. 10km out I arrived at the KOM hill. I stayed in Aerobars all the way... felt great. Couldn't wait to come down the other side. 82km/h coming down hill was amazing... woohooo. I love my new bike! I came into Noosa town 5mins fast that last year... Thanks new bike! I felt I could have pushed harder and would have if it was my A race and not my first race of the season.
Shoes on, cap on...run run run. There was my wife and son... I love them being there... go dadda go!!!! It was almost midday so it was hot. I started with a good cadence and needed to get some water into me since I was 1 bottle down on the bike. Very conscious of hydration so sipped water. Run went very well but carefully. Hydration and injury prevention was the key for this race now. I loved the crowds. Residence along the course had their hoses out to cool us down. Well done! Shoes were full of water but I was keeping cool. Picked up the run for the last 2km down the finish chute. I saw my wife and son cheering me on for the last 100m...wow what a feeling having such a great family supporting me. Over all 8mins faster that last year... very happy! The best thing was no soreness the next day... I can push harder next year.

Melbourne Marathon
Amanda (my wife) ran her second Marathon on the weekend. It was an amazing effort and I'm so proud of her in not letting Colitis stop her from doing what she wants to do. Any donation will help find a cure!
We will start looking for corporate sponsors in the next month or so. Please contact us if your company would like to help and get their logo on this site, race outfits & on the cheer squad t-shirts!
My First Ironman Post
Charity Page
I am attempting to complete my first Ironman event in Melbourne on the 25th March 2012
(http://ironmanmelbourne.com). It is a race that will last for around 10 hours to do a 3.8k swim,
180km bike ride and a 42km marathon. Total of 226kms. I would like to use this personal
challenge to help my wife and raise $100 per km of the Ironman.
My wife has been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis this year. It is a terrible bowel disease that
can cause many problems including bleeding, tiredness and a sense of urgency to have a bowel
movement. I would like to make a difference with combating this disease and finding a cure
so people like my wife can stop suffering. The drugs my wife has to take to keep the disease
at bay are strong cancer fighting drugs that are called immunosuppressive medication. We
want to get her off those as soon as we can.
I am raising money for Crohn's & Colitis Australia to raise awareness of this terrible disease
and funds for research.
Any help you can provide would be greatly appeciated and give wife and I a boost in
fighting this disease and completing the Ironman. $1 per km would be a great effort and
every km I complete is worth more and more to the funds for research.
